Brasov International Film Festival & Market Announces 2013 Dates, New Venue and Submission Deadlines

Brasov, Romania – October 18, 2012 – Daria Trifu, creator and organizer, announced today that the 2nd annual edition of the nonviolent Brasov International Film Festival & Market will be held August 1-11, 2013 in the Amphitheater of the five-star Aro Palace Hotel in Brasov, Romania. This luxurious hotel offers the top amenities and accommodation to Festival’s VIP guests, sponsors and attendees.

The outstanding success of Brasov International Film Festival & Market’s 1st edition has placed the event amongst the top 10 international film festivals in the world.

Brasov International Film Festival & Market is completely owned, organized and solely financed by Brasov Film Center s.r.l. The Festival is one of the most important cultural events of the year and one of the most elegant events in the country. Royals, politicians, dignitaries and film stars are expected to attend the 2013 edition of the Festival. Considering the VIP guest list, Brasov Film Center will implement an ironclad security.

World class film director Bruno Pischiutta who was recently nominated alongside Clint Eastwood, Quentin Tarantino and James Cameron by The Political Film Society in Hollywood, will be the presenter of the Festival. He will be accompanied on stage by beautiful actress Alexandra Cosma who will translate his words from English to Romanian.

The evening gala screenings of the Opening and Closing Nights will be strictly Black Tie events. To all other evening screenings the dress code imposed will be semiformal.

The award trophy will be an original art work designed by the exceptionally talented young Brasov artist, Denisa Barbalata.

The sidewalk and entrance of the hotel will be completely dressed-up in a meters tall and wide canvas painted in the trademark burgundy color of the Festival that will carry its name and logo and that will be fully lit to create one of the most elegant and eye-catching international film festival facades. A red carpet and spotlight panel will welcome the exquisite guests inside the Amphitheater.

Tickets will be available on sale nationwide and the event will be preceded by a months-long major promotional campaign on national TV and radio.

The Festival screens nonviolent feature films only (no shorts and no documentaries). Every movie will be screened in its original language with both English and Romanian subtitles. Film submissions for next year’s festival will be accepted beginning November 1st. The official deadline for all features is May 1st. Submission forms and complete information regarding eligibility for the 2013 festival will be available on-line at once the submission process opens.

Daria Trifu, president of Brasov Film Center and festival director, leads BRIFF’s team, which includes artistic consultant Bruno Pischiutta, programmer Elio Dell’Unto, programming coordinator Marian Albu and festival secretary Ana-Maria Cioflec.

The Brasov International Film Festival & Market was founded by Producer Daria Trifu and Film Director Bruno Pischiutta to contribute to the overall creation and further development by Brasov Film Center of a financially viable international film industry in Transylvania. In its 1st edition, the Festival has screened 28 films from 15 countries amongst which were counted movies with/by Woody Allen, Nicole Kidman, Rachel McAdams, James McAvoy, Julianne Moore, Robert De Niro, Robert Redford and Ben Stiller. The scope of the festival is to continue attracting world’s media attention to the area in order to help increase tourism, stimulate economic growth and entice the international movie community to produce films in Brasov.
