“BEING FLYNN” WITH ROBERT DE NIRO AND PAUL DANO IS THE TOP WINNER AT BRASOV INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL & MARKET

Brasov, Romania — July 30, 2012 — The first edition of Brasov International Film Festival & Market has been concluded on Sunday evening, July 29. The best film awarded awarded this year was BEING FLYNN with Robert De Niro and Paul Dano and written, directed and produced by Paul Weitz. The Festival took place from July 19 to 29. A total of 9 feature films have participated in competition and 15 played out of competition. The screenings took place in two locations: the Dramatic Theater ‘Sica Alexandrescu’ and Piata Sfatului.

Here is the complete list of 2012 Brasov International Film Festival & Market winners:

  • BEST ART DIRECTION: Karl Probert for “Jane Eyre”
  • BEST MUSIC SCORE: Gary Yershon for Another Year
  • BEST COSTUMES: Carola Fenocchio for “Zoe”
  • BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Luis Najmias Jr. for “The Silly Age”
  • BEST LEAD ACTRESS: Nicole Kidman in “Rabbit Hole”
  • BEST LEAD ACTOR: Abudallah El Akal in “David and Kamal”
  • BEST SCREENPLAY: Noah Baumbach for “Greenberg”
  • BEST DIRECTOR: Robert Redford for “Conspirator”
  • BEST FILM: “Being Flynn” produced by Paul Weitz

The Festival, owned and organized by Brasov Film Center (Daria Trifu, director and Bruno Pischiutta, artistic consultant) was a an exceptional success and it qualifies between the best 10 Festivals in the world. American and European producers, directors and actors who have attended the Festival and have presented their films got a first taste of Brasov as an international film production center. Director Bruno Pischiutta has presented, with great success and out of competition, four of his own films at this edition of the Festival.

The Festival organizers, Daria Trifu and Bruno Pischiutta, gave the following special Awards at the conclusive ceremony:

  • BEST FILM OUT OF CONTEST: “Midnight In Paris” directed by Woody Allen
  • FILM PUBLICIST OF THE YEAR: Gratiela Cujmir
  • EMERGING INTERNATIONAL FILM ACTOR WORKING IN ROMANIA: Keith Lopez
  • EMERGING INTERNATIONAL FILM ACTRESS WORKING IN ROMANIA: Bogdana Ross
  • EMERGING ROMANIAN FILM ACTRESSES: Elena Paraschiv and Alexandra Epure

In a few days, Brasov Film Center is starting production of a feature film in Brasov. The film is titled SUICIDE (Bruno Pischiutta – writer and director, Daria Trifu – producer,  Alina Csiki – leading actress).
